We are a grassroots initiative, that seeks to provide a safe space for young people to express themselves through art and it's various subsets. ,but most importantly to create and deliver programs that would strengthen the economic well being of its participants.
As a not for profit organization operating out of 168 Baldwin Street in Kensington Market we are well positioned to meet and interact with the thousands of young people who visit the market on a regular basis.
Phoenix Community Development Organization hopes to equip young people with the skills necessary to participate in an ever changing society.
The approach we would take is to offer mentorship to the youth through hard work, and entrepreneurship.
This collaborative approach would help to create viable businesses within the community that are successful and self-sustaining.
Our aim is not to parachute an initiative in the community, but to build consensus around projects that would lift the community out of poverty, and to be a beacon of what sustainable development looks like.
PCDO changes the community landscape by first redefining who we are, and our role in the overall development of the community.
Our youth programs will aim to address skills development and entrepreneurship.
It would be incumbent on the directors and other
stakeholders to forge an environment and a mindset of success.
Our goal is to motivate our youth to see what is possible with cooperative learning and teaching.
